Snowing In Miami

I’ve been a fan of Snow Strippers since 2023, when I heard ‘Don’t You Feel’ on a friend’s Instagram story. I’ve always found their sound entrancing; Tatiana’s dreamlike vocals and Graham’s vivid mixes combined create a unique sound that I haven’t heard anywhere else.

So to be able to see them in person, after praising their work for so long, already felt like a dream come true. I never thought I’d be able to see them in person, and it’s even crazier that they did a show so local! Often, musicians that I want to see either go to Central/North Florida only or they just skip Florida altogether, so I’m truly overjoyed that they did a state tour of Florida which included South Florida (who is doing it like them, really)!

The show was at Factory Town, a venue which perfectly encapsulated the gritty and intimate vibe that Snow Strippers go for. The grungy atmosphere and vibrant visual effects on stage through use of lights, fog, and a projector screen served to elevate the experience. The workers who gave me my wristband were incredibly kind, as were the vendors working there. Despite being a Miami native, It was my first Factory Town concert, and it’s definitely a memory I will never forget.

With a quick set change, Snow Strippers were on stage before any of us could even process it. Tatiana’s stage presence matches her vocals, the way that she would move made me feel as though I was inside of a dream. Her performance was ethereal and entrancing.

Her vocals also sounded fairly similar to her studio recordings during the performance, which I thought was incredibly impressive. The control that she has in her movement and in her voice is beyond incredible, and it was amazing to be able to witness her from the stage view.

My personal favorite song from them is ‘Under A Siege’, which I was lucky enough to hear them play during this show! I was a bit further back when it started so I instantly moved towards the stage to get closer. While I wish the full song was played, I’m grateful that it got played at all. It’s not as well known, and since they were playing songs from multiple albums, I wasn’t expecting to hear it. The audience also seemed to enjoy it, which made me very happy.

The crowd got the most excited during ‘Under Your Spell’, which is Snow Strippers’ most popular song by far. The atmosphere was very lively and energetic, yet during the slower moments it felt like the crowd would slow down alongside them. Overall,, in spite of the rain that poured down on everyone just a few hours earlier, the spirit of the audience remained high throughout.

I’m beyond grateful to Snow Stripper’s team for giving some of us the opportunity here at WVUM to go to their concert. I felt truly immersed during that concert, and I’ll never forget that experience. My only wish would have been that it went on even longer! I would most definitely go to another Snow Strippers concert in the future, and I believe that any fans of them reading this should absolutely go see them in person.
