Fresh Éire 2026

From U2 and Sinéad O’Connor to Hozier and Fontaines D.C., Ireland’s musical history has been rife with incredible success stories. However, the general world’s perception of Irish music seems to remain muddled somewhere between pub songs, dad rock, and the fae.

However, the contemporary world of Irish music is vibrant, innovative, and developing at a breakneck pace. With new acts sprouting up quicker than anyone can count, grassroots organizers and local press are making Irish music accessible from the ground up, interviewing bands, curating new tracks, and providing a place for Irish artists to showcase their talents. I owe the foundation of my interest to the fantastic work of the people at Genuine Irish.

This St. Patrick’s Day, I wanted to highlight the electric indie and alternative world in Ireland, which I’ve spent the last two years digging into for WVUM. So without further ado, here are seventeen of the best artists currently on the scene in the Emerald Isle.

Dove Ellis

Jeff Buckley / Cameron Winter adjacent (loverboy songwriting and slight hollering). Blizzard was a top release of 2025.

Check Out— Love Is

Aby Coulibaly

Enchanting vocals, crisp, refined sound, undeniable confidence. At the End of the Day… It’s Night? Mandatory listen.

Check Out— Love Is Enough

Chameleon

Discovered him through Who’s That Girl?, a KhakiKid collab. Great lyrics, genre hopper. Primed to go viral.

Check Out— Best of my Life

Bees & Sawdust

Unreal post-hardcore/noise rock group. Once had a dream about the Orbital Blowout! guitar riff.

Check Out— Orbital Blowout!

Chasing Abbey

Trad music with a modern twist. Massive proponent of the Irish language and of Irish history.

Check Out— GORTA

Madra Salach

Moody, haunting, reeling, cinematic. Six-piece folk band with an ear for post-rock tones and experimentation.

Check Out— I Was Just A Boy

F3miii

Currently leaping up the charts. Butter smooth vocals, addicting beats. Mark my words, he will be EVERYWHERE.

Check Out— NOBLE

Big Sleep

Excellent indie sound. Very "late spring evening dancing in the kitchen" soundtrack. New album released March 3rd.

Check Out— Two Cents

EFÉ

Cut her teeth in the 2020 bedroom pop era (signed to Clairo's label). Recent transition into rock vibes.

Check Out— 2000SEVEN

Fizzy Orange

Dreamy creamsicle indie and indie pop. Best paired with windows rolled down and driving to the beach.

Check Out— Fourstep

Rejjie Snow

Jazz, R&B, 90s rap, synth pop... Rejjie Snow blends it all together in a clever, introspective package.

Check Out— Mask on/off

Telekura

Vibrant synth-y symphony helmed by gritty guitars and Rachel Tan's velvety vocals. Layered, textured, and kaleidoscopic.

Check Out— maybe

Bricknasty

Experimental, unpredictable, and beyond description. Jazz-punk. Neo-soul. Hip-hop. Irish trad. Hear it for yourself.

Check Out— gas (with Aby Coulibaly !!)

Heron Red

Singer-songwriter duo genre blending Americana, country, traditional folk, and Irish trad with a full-bodied exuberance.

Check Out— Not All Is Fair

Laytha

Another folk duo! Spring flowers and autumn leaves. Unbelievable harmonies paired solely with a simple acoustic guitar.

Check Out— Autumn's Amphora Wine

Curtisy

Ridiculously catchy. Rolling, swampy, and gleeful hip-hop that leaves you breathless and sputtering and hitting repeat.

Check Out— Tree Sap

Shiv

DJ/songstress fusing lo-fi hip-hop, R&B, and soul into cohesive tracks. Think gauzy curtains, golden hour.

Check Out— cherry pie (with Kojaque and Gaptoof)
