This past Saturday, Miami welcomed Young the Giant back for their first headline show in the 305.
Joywave and Cold War Kids started the show. A notable moment was when Cold War Kids did a cover of Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain”. Their rendition gave a new meaning to the song that I had not realized before and was incredibly beautiful.
Of YTG’s set, my favorite part was “Firelight”, which they did “in the open.” It’s a tradition where they play stripped back versions of their songs with no production, just vocals and acoustic instruments. You know a band is excellent when their acoustic songs sound better than their produced tracks.
Finally hearing “My Body” and all my favorite hits live was everything I hoped for and more. They were having the time of their life and that only made the audience feel the same way.
