Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti stopped by Heart Nightclub after the BET Hip Hop Awards taping last Friday night. The rapper stumbled on stage to loud fanfare at around 2 A.M. after a couple hours of the DJ warming up the crowd with a selection of modern trap-based cuts. Carti bounced around the stage with his posse as the DJ continued to spin crowd-pleasing tunes, such as the upcoming unreleased Lil Uzi Vert track “Loaded.”
After hanging out on stage for a good 20 minutes, the rapper broke into his smash hits “wokeuplikethis*” and “Magnolia” as the audience went wild. Pierre Bourne, Carti’s in-house producer, danced along to his pulsating beats while his right-hand man performed alongside him. Carti closed off his brief set at around 3 A.M. with “Let It Go,” off his self-titled debut from earlier this year.
Carti left the venue almost immediately after his set, but the party didn’t end there. The DJ kept the energy steady as special guests like Sniper Gang’s John Wicks (Kodak Black’s blood brother) came out to breakdance to his brother’s hot new single “Transportin”.
While the set was a bit short, Heart Nightclub provided exactly what they intended to: an enjoyable nightclub experience, not an enjoyable concert experience.
