California born and raised, I grew up in a mid-sized town 45 minutes north of San Francisco. My real name is Aldric, but the homies call me Aldo (If you meet me in person, DO NOT say “Aldo like the shoe store?!”). On the air I go by the super cool DJ name, DJ ChocolateEinstein, I love a variety of genres of music, especially Hip-Hop and anything else that is DOPE.

I hail from a minuscule small town named Plantation that lies to the west of Ft. Lauderdale. For most people, this location isn’t exactly conducive to tastes for indie rock, noise pop, and post-punk/new wave revivalism, so I’m not sure how I ended up listening to stuff like that. Lucky for me, WVUM is a proponent of such sounds.

Where do I even start when talking about myself? Should we start with my killer personality? or my captivating charm? Or we can start by talking about the fact that in social situations, I can’t help but bring up the fact that I work for WVUM. Usually the response is overwhelmingly positive. The few times it is not, I end the conversation immediately and walk away in disgust. When I am not doing WVUM-related things, I am usually scouring the downtown area for some fun, then I return home and do WVUM-related things. I enjoy things that bring me sunshine and happiness. I have an affinity for travel and going places. I am always doing something different, new & exciting.

Ben Pernick is a jazz guitarist and enthusiast from Ann Arbor, Michigan. When not playing or attending shows in the Miami or Detroit areas, he enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and reading.
